Some thoughts about Teen Titans Academy #4

Everyone is hunting Red X.

In the wake of the attack by the Suicide Squad, a new team of student has decided to investigate the secret surrounding the most mysterious member of the Titans and this search will lead them to learn even more than they expected.

This still blows to no one's surprise.

I know I'm a broken record here but Tim Sheridan's infatuation for Red X makes the whole book suffer a lot, particularly because of how much the "plot" depends on the fanficky portrayal. The focus of this chapter is about part of the new cast looking for Red X and is so full of unnecessary pandering to an audience that I think limits to only Sheridan himself at this point. Worst of all is that the story barely moves and we learn very little about the current cast.

Speaking of the cast, still don't like them. Chupacabra might be a bit enjoyable but the rest barely have a personality on their own, not to mention that I started to notice that a few characters have names that are already taken ("Brick" is already a fairly well-known Green Arrow villain), plus, the inclusion of characters like Billy Batson makes me remember of Sheridan's terrible Future State work and that's just makes things even worse.

Steve Lieber's artwork is the highlight since his semi-cartoony style fits really well the young tone of the book.

Aside from that, another perfectly skippable installment.
