Whatever happened to Bizarro and Artemis?
Jason has been suffering because of the apparent death of his friends but what he doesn't know is that they actually ended-up in a much different reality.
Yet another Annual of this series is here and I'm actually surprised by how long this series has lasted and how many issues like this has produced.
Scott Lobdell offers a little tale that works as a set-up for upcoming stories. The plot is centered around where Artemis and Bizarro actually are which is a sub-plot that was left hanging for a while and the reveal is more interesting than expected. Lobdell uses this as an opportunity to explore a different universe where superheroes lost their powers and normal people gained them... and weirdly enough turned the latter into complete psychos who ended-up killing their heroes. For basically an one-and-done story, this is an engaging addition to the Multiverse.
Speaking about sub-plots, there's a bit of progress beyond the main story since Jason is apparently about to set his life in a new direction again (Yes, it happens quite often). The characterization is really solid thanks to the classic relationship between the cast.
Adam Pollina handles the art and does a solid job due to the clear expressions and strong action scenes.
Good read, hope the next arc is solid.
