Who is trying to frame Firestorm?
Everyone believes that Ronnie Raymond is culprit of recent attacks and that is all connected to the Supermen Theory but all of this will have to wait since they will have to face what possibly is the most powerful being in the Multiverse.
And here it is, the inevitable encounter with Doctor Manhattan has arrived and while this is a big fight for the most part, Geoff Johns still manages to make this conflict interesting.
We open with the classic scene of all the heroes from the DCU trying to stop a big Crisis and yeah, it all simply looks inspiring and memorable. Not to mention that Johns includes all his expexted references about this vast universe and even some lines that perfectly describe each character despite that they barely had any participation (Ollie's "None of you barking pundits are worth Superman's piss. Hell, you aren't worth mine!" quote is so in-character), all of this while still working on the conspiration that is affecting all of them.
But of course, the big attraction is the fight against Doctor Manhattan and the writer definitely knows how to implement his God-like powers to make the whole army of heroes seem powerless and there are quite a few moments to appreciate here like how Captain Atom finally faces Doctor Manhattan which is something I was anticipating considering their related history.
Another thing to mention here is that it might be that Johns is going to re-write Firestorm's history and put one of the characters on a darker light which might be a trick of Doctor Manhattan so I'm not sure if I should take this as a complete truth.
Gary Frank's artwork is magnificent as usual, being able to depict every scene from the script perfectly and elevating it to new levels.
Great stuff, hope the next one doesn't get delayed too much.
