Can the curse be truly over?
Joe is trying to destroy the being the Salesman summoned but to do so, he will have to realize what he had to sacrifice in the first place.
This series has come to a conclusion and to be honest, I'm really glad that it existed. The Curse of Brimstone has managed to deliver the horror feel that has been lacking in comics in recent years and this final chapter perfectly complements that direction.
Justin Jordan offers the last installment which is mostly focused on a big fight but is a big fight with a point. The Salesman brings his final weapon against both Joe and Annie and funnily enough, is basically his boss who does something rather hilarious to him when you put everything in context. The fight is what you would usually call a final battle but it brings back themes that we have seen over the course of this book concerning violence and sacrifice, the idea is about rejecting the former and only using the latter in a selfless way.
This perfectly makes everything come together towards the end although this being a horror title, it also concludes in a manner that feels bittersweet and makes me wonder if there's something planned next for these characters. Mind you, even if there's no follow-up this would still be an appropriate finale since it feels reminiscent of classic horror stories.
Denys Cowan handles the art and it's a bit messy but still feels adequate because of the supernatural energy the fight provides.
Solid ending. Shame the title is over.
