Can Superboy survive Earth 3?
Jon has arrived to a dimension ruled by the Crime Syndicate and now he will have to confront Ultraman all by himself.
Well, an interesting idea quickly ruined.
Brian Bendis offers a new installment where he delivers the long-awaited (and I say "long-awaited" mostly because this plot-point was teased for a while now and was seemingly delayed for who knows why) return of the Crime Syndicate. Again, I king dig the premise of Jon being lost in the Multiverse (despite that I still HATE this is why he's an older teenager now) to visit other versions of familiar characters.
The problem here is the execution and let's just that Bendis' voice for a lot of the characters is not the best. You just have to compare this Ultraman with the one that Geoff Johns created during Forever Evil (his most prominent appearence) to see how off he is. Johns' Ultraman was violent and cruel but he was also calculating and cold, Bendis' Ultraman on the other hand, is just rude, whiny and even pathetic at his worst, and let's say that Bendis dialogue doesn't get the best from the whole scenario since it can be overwritten and blunt. The bad characteriation is not limited to Ultraman since Superwoman also suffers from similar issues at the end.
Ivan Reis and Brandon Peterson's artwork is really solid, particularly Reis' during the bigger settings.
Other than that, not worth checking out really.
