Some thoughts about Teen Titans #28

Can the Teen Titans defeat Deathstroke again?

The last encounter with Slade left the team devastated but that won't stop Damian from following his new mission of capturing criminals.

A new crossover begins. As we all know, the last crossover between these titles (The Lazarus Contract I believe) wasn't as good as promised, in fact it had really bad ramifications for many characters. Mind you, this one has a few things in its favor, for one, we replace Ben Percy with Adam Glass (which is a big plus) and we don't have the involvement of the Titans book so there will be less complications (and thank God because Titans doesn't have the best quality as a whole).

Thankfully, this opening chapter seems to exploit the potential of this new storyline. Both Adam Glass and Christopher Priest are creating a story where Damian's new mindset of incarcerating villains in his own prison ultimately brings him back to Deathstroke and the writers manage to create a logical development from this, particularly concerning the remaining members from the last Teen Titans team, Damian and Wallace, due that they remember what happened the last time they face Slade and how that affected them. I especially like the emphasis about how this has made Wallace transition from being the one who screwed up in the last team to the voice of reason in this one, good development overall.

The encounter with Deathstroke goes as well as you expect and as usual, Slade is not only a strong opponent physically but also mentally since even if they manage to bring him down, he also knows how to manipulate the cast and create an interesting conflict between them by playing with their weaknesses.

Bernard Chang's artwork handles the art and is beautiful thanks to his vibrant style and expressive character models.

Promising beginning, hope things continue this way.
