Superboy will have to face his own kind once again.
Kon has been deteriorating over the course of the years while trying to fill the void that Superman left. Now, joined by his team, he will need to stop a bunch of clones who want to survive just like him.
The last issue from this series, does it delivers a satisfying conclusion?
Well, let's look at the positives first. Frank Barbieri is in charge of the story and the characterization is pretty spot-on for the most part since Kon acts like what you would expect from him after the events of this series and Futures End, it was also good to see other young metahumans including a member from Gen 13.
However, the title doesn't offer many surprises after that sadly. While the writing itself is decent is not particularly impressive and doesn't really have a distinctive feel to it. There are not enough charming, humourous or shocking moments and even the ones that try to be such don't really succeed.
Ben Caldwell is the artist and while his style may lack certain polish, is still a pretty distinctive one. He has a pretty expressive and vibrant look that makes all the scene quite interesting to see.
Overall, this probably was not the best ending for this book I'm sad to say. Hope that if this is ever relaunched they can try to do something better.
I dislike this story for the Futures End because this piece implying that no Superboy can ever reach their full potential ever. In Young Justice series, the human DNA prevented Superboy from reaching his true potential, In the new 52 Superboy Futures End, it's a virus that is now preventing Kon to reach his full potential. Seriously,I am not sure why DC does not like a powerful Superboy. I am severely disappointed with this issue
ResponderBorrarI suppose is just an excuse to make him less powerful than Superman.
BorrarI just hope he receives some quality stories in the future.
