Some thoughts about Shazam #7

What are the Darklands?

Billy's family are still lost in the Magiclands and their lives are in peril and things are going to get even worse once that they fall into one of the darkest places.

About damn time this series returned and I'm damn happy that it did.

Geoff Johns brings a new installment where he explores several of the plot-points he has been creating during the course of the story. The revelation about Billy's secret identity to his adoptive parents is a pretty interesting twist and something I wasn't expecting so soon. The development of the Magiclands remains really interesting, particularly because of the involvement of Tawky Tawny who demonstrates to be the kindest soul of the Wildlands.

All of this is leading to the Darklands and the mysteries they hide but even a bigger mystery is a pretty relevant plot-point that Johns just dropped here concerning the Shazam family which could completely change their dynamic. Add a pretty surprising cliffhanger involving a classic name and you just get me excited for what's coming next.

Dale Eaglesham and Scott Kolins share pencils and they do a solid job during their respective sections, especially Eaglesham whose style is much more flexible than I expected, being able to create really detailed anthropomorphic creatures .

Great read, probably the best this week.
