Some thoughts about Aquaman #52

Can Aquaman save his home?

Monsters are arriving at Amnesty Bay and Arthur is the only one who can stop them but even if he manages to do so, the worst monster of all is still coming.

First of all, that cover is a lie since that doesn't happen here. Black Manta is far away.

Second, this is still boring as hell. Kelly Sue DeConnick offers a new installment of mostly pure action and not really engaging at that. Arthur is just fighting sea creatures along with the rest and there's just so much that you can do with that premise, worst of all is that those scenes are not particularly exciting, especially because the characters around are so dull.

If there's something I kinda like about this issue is that the writer is at least exploring a bit of Black Manta's character but then again, is very little. The plot progresses at a slow pace and ends with a character I assume should be important but I don't think I care about him.

Robson Rocha's art is really good though with beautiful characters and strong fight segments.

Aside from that, yet another skippable issue.
