Some thoughts about Hawkman #13

War is eternal.

Carter can't help but reminisce yet another of his previous lives where he was forced to be part of an army to fight against another race and he was the only one who could find a solution.

This series rests a bit from the last overly-long story to deliver an standalone one which works satisfyingly.

Robert Venditti delivers a new chapter where he continues to explore Hawkman's lives except he does it in a different way this time. The story is centered around the war between two races and how Carter was always part of it, the thing is that this time he had multiple lives in this whole war that lasted years and he wasn't limited to one side which leads to a pretty interesting exploration and theme.

The idea about how Carter keeps feeling a sense of dejavu in this particular setting is a nice touch while the story keeps touching upon ideas about how both sides are no different from one another which is further emphasized by the fact that Carter has fought in both during the different wars. The way how all of this stops makes sense overall and brings a classic character back into the spotlight.

Will Conrad handles the art and is really solid with expressive characters and on-point storytelling.

Good issue, wouldn't mind more like this.
