Some thoughts about Heroes in Crisis #5

Things are getting worse.

Sanctuary has been revealed to the world and now Superman will have to to calm down the people. Meanwhile, Booster Gold is trying to figure out what actually happened to Wally West.

Yeah, things are getting worse all right although we have seen this coming a mile away.

Tom King offers a new installment where he plays with the ramifications of the last one about how Lois published a column about Sanctuary and this is where everything comes apart. King tries to justify this action as: "the public must know the truth" but to be honest, it just portrays Lois as a completely selfish, oblivious person who doesn't realize that this will only cause mass hysteria and will make the whole world start distrusting their own heroes, this reminds me pretty much of New 52 Lois who constantly made stupid and terrible mistakes (Revealing Clark's identity comes to mind) and is a complete disservice to the character.

The only thing that Superman does here is basically damage control due that he needs to explain to everyone the true nature of Sanctuary but none of this would have happened if Lois wouldn't have published the damn story! He needs to fix his wife's mistakes and I think this might be considered pretty sexist. Oh, and the fact that he let all of this happen in the first place doesn't speak well of him either.

The story progresses appropriately and starts creating a few intriguing reveals but they're accompanied by pretty clunky dialogue that makes the whole thing awkward to read. The "talking heads" segments are not getting any better although I have to admit that I had a bit of a laugh when The Protector, a PSA superhero from the 80s who was against drugs, actually was a drug addict but that's mostly because of the ridiculous situation and I don't know if King wanted people to take him seriously.

Clay Mann's artwork continues to be stunning with beautiful characters and strong storytelling but he continues to be wasted him.

What did you expect? I don't expect things to get better.
