Some thoughts about Teen Titans Academy #3

The Suicide Squad is threatening the academy now.

Amanda Waller has sent her team looking for a new member and they will suddenly get involved with Red X and the mystery of his identity.

Red X, Red X, RED F*CKINGX! Do you see a pattern here? Because Tim Sheridan keeps yelling it at you to follow it.

Seriously, it seems like every frikking point of this story revolves around the fanficky take of that 2003 Teen Titans show character and I just don't see the point, it's much more annoying than actually interesting, it's almost like Sheridan wrote this story when he was a teenager and never grew-up from it.

And is not like the rest of the plot is much better. The involvement of the Suicide Squad doesn't really bring anything compelling to the table (especially because they're also forced to interact with Red Frikking X) and whenever the chapter tries to focus on actual interesting points like Alinta's background, it always comes back to the already mentioned obnoxious aspects.

The dialogue and characterization can be painful to get through though. Most of the new cast is still unremarkable since they can be interchangeable personality-wise and the old cast can also be badly-written with characters tending to overreact for anything just to get along with the plot (Like Crush leaving the team for the simple mention of her dad despite that she got over that during Adam Glass' run). Now that I think about it, Suicide Squad and Teen Titans Academy share a lot in terms of terrible character portrayals and interactions.

No complaints about Rafa Sandoval's fluid work aside that he deserves better than this.

Ugh, not getting better at all. Just waiting for a new creative team now.
