Some thoughts about Batman/Superman #18

How can Batman and Superman escape this reality?

The true nature of the Archive of Worlds has been revealed and now people from it are trying to find out the universe where the actual World's Finest live in.

Content-packed as usual is what I would call this issue.

Gene Luen Yang offers a new installment where he continues to make the film universes clash. The very high-concept premise of the Golden Age Superman and Batman depicted as protagonists of movies from the same era gets even crazier with the appearance of characters like Martha Wayne who only wants to overly-protect his son which makes this little arc quite similar to what Grant Morrison would pull-off during his initial Batman run (which is a high praise for the most part).

There are also many different segments that progress the plot in different ways, I'm pretty impressed about how much plot Yang is able to inject in each issue without forgetting about the little character moments like Bruce dealing with his mother from another reality or Jimmy Olsen and Robin earning some respect. All of this leading-up to the inevitable encounter with the true DC Universe.

Ivan Reis continues to shine in art duties, he's basically the perfect penciller for the kind of stuff that Yang wanted to depict due to his ability to portray multiple situations in every single page and panel with a lot of polish.

Satisfying issue, hope the conclusion follows suit.
