Who is the main man?
Lobo has just been confronted by the Dark Multiverse version of himself but there can only be a last Czarnian in the universe.
Another Death Metal is here and focusing on none other than Lobo, As you would expect, this is a story that is not going to take itself seriously which for an event that takes itself so seriously, it's quite a relief.
We open the special with a segment written by Frank Tieri which is quite appropriate since if there's something Tieri can do is over-the-top and he most certainly delivers by creating "The Batman who Frags", making fun of the overused Batman who Laughs and even depicting what I believe is a parody to the "climax" of Tom King's first Batman Vs. Bane fight, it's all hilarious. Tyler Kirkham's angular artwork is a perfect fit for such an extreme looking battle.
The Becky Cloonan arrives with a not so over-the-top but still humourous section where Lobo has to face a Bat-Solomon Grundy and making fun of more conventional heroes like Hawkman. Rags Morales handles the art and is fine but a bit too standard looking for the character.
Finally Sam Humphries offers a segment where he creates a bunch of Lobo-likes heroes which serves as a contrast to how Batman-heavy Death Metal is as an event and, while I constantly complaint about Humphries' "comedic" writing, he does a solid job due to how crazy the whole situation is.Denyz Cowan's gritty style is a nice fit for the issue.
Solid tie-in overall, hope the following ones are just as good.
