Some thoughts about Batman #102

Who is Batman's new rival?

The Joker left a huge mark on Gotham and now someone else believes he's the only one who can save the city.

Yeah, I missed the last issue but after this one, I don't think I missed a lot.

James Tynion IV continues his trend of derivative directions, last time it was a "Big Joker Story!" and now is a story about an anti-Batman, both extremely tiring ideas that should have been left alone for a while but I guess Tynion doesn't have much more creativity than that.

The story itself is not necessarily badly-written but it still has that predictability that I already mentioned along with the usual Tynion ticks that just bother me so much. The Ghostmaker is obviously going to be yet another of the writer's pet characters along with Punchline and Clownhunter that just are so much better than the rest and for some reason, never get the punishment they deserve. In fact now Tynion is retconning Ghostmaker into Bruce's past as his rival in training and yeah, that's getting too out of hand (and is especially bad considering there's a frikking story about Hush this same week).

Carlo Pagulayan's art is solid though with a kinetic style and strong action scenes.

Aside from that, don't expext anything new from now on.
