Can the Hawks be together forever?
Hath-Set is decided to kill Carter and Shiera for the last time but Carter believes their days of fighting for eternity are over.
This series comes to a conclusion and just like its enterity, I think Robert Venditti managed to make an, let's say, acceptable ending.
The final chapter is of course, the confrontation between Hawkman and Hath-Set. Again, this felt appropriate considering how the villain was considered the nemesis of this couple for a long time but thankfully, the battle is not really by the numbers due that the writer actually kinda subverts expectations about such event, demonstrating what Carter has learned over the course of the book and finishes this encounter rather quickly. Mind you, this makes the ending less of a spectacle and kinda underwhelming bu I can't blame Venditti trying something different.
For that reason, the finale feels pretty short which is not much of a surprise considering how much of a fast read the whole title was but still, there's a sense of closure about the characters and themes that were developed.
Fernando Pasarin remains in art duties and his work is still great with lots of detail in the characters and storytelling.
Fine ending to a fine title. Hope the next time these characters are revisited the writer does a better than fine job though.
