How can Wonder Woman stop Maxwell Lord?
Max has gained a new surge of power and is ready to make Diana pay for her previous encounter but she's too strong to be manipulated.
This storyarc comes to a conclusion with less than successful results.
Mariko Tamaki brings the final encounter between Diana and Max and for something that has been teased since the beginning of this run, I was expecting more. Let's start right from the beginning when the writer retcons Max's past to introduce some tragedy involving the death of his father when he was a child and showing how little his mother cared about both of them which pretty much negates the whole reason why Max became evil in the first place, to avenge the death of her mother, the person who cared the most about him. This change is so worthless and goes so much against his character that I wonder what were they thinking.
Second, while I think the battle itself flows well and the way how it ends feels appropriate, it has to end with Max being "privileged because he was born into wealth"... which doesn't really negate the fact that Gods like Diana are born into power so is a pretty lame comeback.
Rafa Sandoval's flexible and fluid pencils are appreciated though.
Can't recommend, disappointed overall.
