Some thoughts about Superman & the Authority #3

The Authority needs even more members.

Superman believes that they can save June Moon from herself and they all together can bring new order to the world but their enemies might get even more harsh.

You know, I wasn't expecting this series to come to an end so soon.

Yes, I know I should have been checking the goddamn cover all this time but the fact that this book is about to conclude just hit me when I read the "To be concluded" at the end and is mostly because it seems like Grant Morrison planted a lot of ideas in just this series and it seemed like they were going to be further developed in more chapters so the upcoming ending comes a bit abruptly.

Sure, I might be wrong here and Morrison might create an appropriate resolution for most of these ideas but up to this point it seemed like mostly as a set-up for more important events that were going to happen in the future. For God's sake, they're still recruiting team members in this same chapter and Morrison actually creates an interesting perspective from the Enchantress' dual personality, is not particularly unique mind you but it allows for a compelling portrayal nonetheless.

The character dynamics are also pretty entertaining for the most part. I really dig the writer's take on Manchester Black who always had an enjoyable personality and Morrison really exploits that to make the conversations between the cast much more engaging. Morrison's esoteric dialogue definitely plays a big factor here and it allows to make each scene more grandiose than they actually are.

The plot progresses at a pretty fast pace and the change between different setting is well-done. There's a lot of content in this issue in fact as expected from the writer who rarely does decompressed work but, again, I just wish there were at least 3 more issues to give the story more time to breath.

Mikel Janin and Travel Foreman share the pencils and they both do a great job during their respective sections but I can't help but dig Janin's more polished and beautiful artstyle.

Solid read. Let's hope the ending is fitting.
