Some thoughts about Year of the Villain: Hell Arisen #1

Who will win?

Lex Luthor has been fearing the power of the Batman who Laughs for a while now and his new found powers might not be enough to face him.

A new miniseries has arrived dealing with the direction that Scott Snyder created concerning the Perpetua powered Lex Luthor and the Batman who Laughs and I think I have found a fanfic that somehow got published by DC Comics.

James Tynion IV handles this story and seriously, were you expecting anyone else to handle this aside from Snyder's pupil? I'm pretty sure Tynion felt pretty honored at working in such uninspired fanboy-infested idea. It's not enough that Snyder has created some of the most creatively bankrupt directions in years but also that he's forcing them to clash.

Credit where credit is due though, this is kinda interesting when Tynion deals with characters like the Crime Syndicate who seem fairly in character and their interactions are decent at least.

BUT that quickly ends once that the all-mighty Perpetua arrives and sucks all the imagination from the story which only descends to show how powerful Luthor and her can be and how utterly-powerful the Batman who Laughs is and I just don't want to read more of that.

Steve Epting handles the art and is solid with a detailed style and clear storytelling.

Aside from that, this is too much of two of the worst ideas currently in comics. Drop it.
