Some thoughts about Superman #25

Who is coming after Superman now?

Clark is enjoying a moment of peace along with the recently arrived Lana Lang but alien forces are willing to threaten his life once again.

Anniversary issue here and if you know something about Brian Bendis is that even his oversized issues cover as much plot progression as any normal issue under other writers.

Yes, this is basically just a set-up for what's going to happen in upcoming chapters which is not surprising yet is disappointing anyway. Is not like there's not good things about this installment since this sees the return of Lana Lang to Superman's cast and I'm happy that Bendis referenced a lot of her history, not only her time in Smallville with Clark but even her role as Superwoman. Is something that you don't usually see in Bendis' books, actual respect to continuity.

Then again, the rest of the issue is kind of a mess, especially the scenes with the aliens who speak in some of the worst examples of Bendis' dialogue that I've seen where lines get repeated constantly only to fill-up space which makes this "oversized" issue drag a lot.  They're just a waste of paper.

Ivan Reis' art is amazing as usual though with beautiful characters and precise storytelling.

Can't recommend this, too much money for too little content.
