Can Batman be happy?
The whole team has been captured by the Black Mercy and now is showing them what they really want, especially Bruce.
Good God, Jeff Loveness does have some sort of fixation with Batman.
As it wasn't obvious already because of his Shazam fill-in issue and the last chapter of this same book, this one was enough to prove how much of a Batfanboy he is. Hell, even last issue despite of being clearly Batman-centered, at least had the decency to give the rest of the team some of sort of importance, here though, the facade is over and Loveness can show how much he loves Batman by basically giving the full issue to him with a little bit of Superman at the end.
And is not like is a particularly new or interesting take. Yes, Bruce is denying happiness because he wants to keep being Batman, how original. You know, even for all the complaints I have about James Tynion IV, even he did a much better job with the premise of Bruce fighting with his own insecurities in this week's Batman. For all the appreciation he has for the character, Loveness apparently can't explore further than that.
Robson Rocha's artwork is pretty good though with a vibrant style that depicts the story as clear as possible.
He's not enough to salvage this though. Jesus, I just know that Loveness is going to include Batman in Shazam's final issue somehow now.
