What's happening to Batman?
Bruce has decided to be part of the jury about the case of three murders but the suspect might actually not be the culprit.
This issues marks the beginning of a brand new storyarc. As stated by Tom King himself, this new direction will take Batman to a darker path, one that will explore different aspects of him... which is saying a lot since King's run has been pretty depressing (and poorly-written but I digress) so far and at the same time it doesn't say much since dark issues have been something so prominent in Batman that is just getting boring and so, King is once again not touching new territory despite that he thinks he is.
But let's talk about the current chapter. King plays with the ramifications of Selina leaving Bruce at the altar and surprisingly enough, is a pretty natural development. Bruce has become more frustrated and violent and that of course is affecting his role as the protector of Gotham City to the point that he might even try to punish people who are actually not culprit. This is solidly depicted during his role as jury, pretending to be okay when he's broken inside and even defending a man who was falsely accused.
The little references are also appreciated like how Dick Grayson becomes Batman once that Bruce is not able to work as him and how Gordon is able to figure out that he's not talking to Bruce in the mask. The dialogue works fine for the most part this time so no obnoxious lines to ruin the story.
Lee Weeks handles the art and is fantastic, his storytelling has always been top-notch and he demonstrates it here by following script perfectly and even elevating it.
Good read finally, hope it continues this way.
