Some thoughts about Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #7

Who can save the universe?

The Great Darkness has taken over Slade and he's willing to put an end to everything, the only person able to stop him is Dick Grayson and he will have to find a way to help everyone in existence.

This event comes to an end and, to nobody's surprise, my opinion about it is maintained.

Joshua Williamson offers a new installment where both his strengths and weaknesses remain prominent. Let's start with the issues I have which are the overall execution of the "big moments" which, while appropriate, they're not particularly great, neither the ultimate fight against the main antagonists which is kinda unremarkable. Is pretty clear that Williamson has never been a Geoff Johns in that regard and I wish he wouldn't do big events from now on and instead focused on what he's actually good at.

Because the character moments are pretty good here. Once again, Williamson shows how much respect he pays to history (is even blatantly told here) and implements it to create great interactions between the whole cast, there are pretty good scenes featuring Hal and Barry, Clark and Jon and especially Bruce and Dick, the latter is the one who receives the most protagonism from the conclusion and is pretty obvious that this has been his story more than anybody's else. Despite of all the flaws that this crossover had, characterization was not one of them and for that reason I still prefer this over whatever happened in Scott Snyder's events.

Another thing to appreciate is that the set-up for future stories is not as forced as in Snyder's books so the main plot concludes adequately and about that set-up is fine I guess but I hope other creative teams are able to handle it.

Daniel Sampere, Jack Herbert, Giuseppe Camuncoli andRafa Sandoval share the pencils and their work is overall pretty consistent and solid over the course of the story, following the script clearly.

Decent overall but I feel like this event wasn't needed in terms of importance. I do think that Williamson should write a Titans book though.
