How will the story of Krem of the Yellow Hills end?
Ruthy finally has the murderer of her father at hand and now she will have to learn if killing him if the right choice right now, a lesson that Supergirl will have to teach her.
Yeah, this series finally, and I mean finally came to a close and I think I speak for everyone when I said that it shouldn't have last as long as it did (Then again, considering this is a Tom King book, it could have easily lasted more).
Seriously, the premise was strong enough with a classic story of seeking revenge and a couple of characters learning to work together while at the same growing close to each other. In that sense, I guess the series made its point due that the interactions between Kara and Ruthy (when they were not buried under overwrought narration) were pretty solid and the hunt for Krem allowed for the exploration of interesting scenarios around the way.
Then again, like half of those scenarios were repetitive and unnecessary (Hello Tom King). In fact a lot of them were wastes of time that seemed like they were trying to fill-up issues for a collected edition which doesn't come much as a surprise but I wish that King would have hidden that fact better which I think he could have done if he wouldn't have been so stubborn with the obnoxious third person narration that made most of the issues seem the same.
About this issue, funnily enough the narration is not as dull this time, it might be because this is the actual ending and King knows he needs to tell something valuable to not make everyone think they wasted their time but on the other hand, is such a simplistic lesson that I can't help but wonder again and again that it could and should have been told in less chapters. Speaking of which, what's up with that ending? Did they learn anything at all? Why wasting literally years of their lives in this for that?
Bilquis Evely's artwork was always the highlight of this series and at least she doesn't disappoint here thanks to her gorgeous characters, beautiful settings and perfect storytelling.
Yeah, don't think this series was worth reading as a whole. Then again, that's my history with King's work.
