Some thoughts about Robin #11

The tournament is over, now what?

Ra's Al Ghul has returned to confront his mother and Damian has decided to put an end to the manipulation of his family since there are more important things to do with his new friends.

This works as an epilogue for the first storyarc and so much more.

While I initially thought that Joshua Williamson used this chapter just as another way to plant sub-plots, and there are a lot of them here, he also delivers a lot of the best aspects from the series. First of all, the character work is still pretty great, you can see all the development that Damian has gained over the course of the series where he can actually call most of the cast his friends (Something that Rebirth Damian rarely did) which is pretty obvious because of the stronger dynamic that has been created between all of them, especially with Flatline.

About the plot-points, they are abundant and very interesting. The rivalry between Connor Hawke and Lady Shiva, the true identity of Respawn (One of Rose's brothers maybe? Grant?) and finally and most important of them all, the resurrection of the person who has been motivating Damian all this time which makes things come full circle. Pretty great stuff.

Gleb Melnikov returns to art duties and is still really appealing thanks to his energetic style, solid storytelling and expressive characters.

Good read, hope the next one doesn't take too long.
