Some thoughts about Joker: Killer Smile #3

Can the disease be stopped?

The Joker's madness has infected Ben and now he's going to hurt who he loves the most unless he finds the little hope there's in him.

This miniseries comes to a conclusion and overall, it was pretty great one.

Jeff Lemire brings the final installment where he plays with the idea of the unique kind of dementia the Joker provides. The descent into madness that Ben suffered over the course of this story finally reaches it climax where he becomes what he wanted to cure all this time. All of this has been part of Joker's plans of course and it leads to the inevitable confrontation with Batman.

That fight is not the point though, the point of this story is that, no matter what kind of madness has suddenly infected you, there's always hope at the end and is your decision to choose what you want to do instead of hurting people with. Considering the lessons that Lemire brought concerning mental illness during his Moon Knight run, I don't think I'm reaching here, is pretty cool that an author can talk about this sort of issues without being overly-blunt or preachy.

Andrea Sorrentino handles the art and is really good with a pretty creative method of storytelling that emphasizes every important detail.

Excellent finale and book, can't wait for the sequel.
