Some thoughts about Gotham Academy #17

Old friends are being reunited.

Heathcliff is back to Gotham Academy while Klarion the Witch Boy is also planning to pay a visit and more mysteries about the academy are being explored.

You know how it rolls, anthology book and a good one at that.

The first story belongs to Brenden Fletcher focusing on the return of Heathcliff to the academy. This contains a cameo of Black Canary as you would expect and also deals with some loose threads like the relationship between Heathcliff and Pomeline in a satisfying way. Annie Wu handles the art here and is solid in her own style and definitely fitting for the Black Canary cast.

The second segment is written and drawn by Michael Dialynas. The story is pretty simple showing Olive and Maps investigating the case of strange beings appearing in the academy. The presence of Klarion is logical but I wish it would have been explored more. Dialynas' style is decent with a cartoony look but is not that appealing for me.

David Peterson is in charge of the full third tale with a secret story about some members of the academy that played a dangerous game. Is a solid story overall and it might be developed in the future. Peterson's artstyle turns out to be the strongest aspect of the book thanks to its distinctive look.

The main sections are still written by Brenden Fletcher and they still work to connect each little story together. Adam Archer continues on art duties and his work is not bad but not particularly great either.

Fun little stories overall, but I kinda want a change at this point.
