Some thoughts about I am Batman #2

There's a new villain in Gotham City.

Jace is still trying to prove himself as the new Batman just when a mysterious organization is controlling people to cause chaos among the city.

Eh, I'm not feeling this yet.

And this is a bit of shame since I really dug what John Ridley did during Future State with basically the same premise but here the plot progresses at very slow pace while the themes continue to be repeated. Seriously, how many times will we have to see Jace trying to prove himself as Batman? Is especially annoying when such idea is blatantly told in the pages. Mind you, there are a few positive aspects like how Jace is different from Bruce but is not enough to justify the repetition.

The story is about how the people in Gotham are being manipulated which fits the themes that the writer has been implementing for a while now but there's very little progress and the premise of the villain is not that interesting although I admitedly liked how the police dealt with it.

Stephen Segovia handles the art and the work is solid with expressive characters and a vibrant style.

Mixed bag. Hope things start improving now.
