Some thoughts about Tales from the Dark Multiverse: War of the Gods #1

Is Wonder Woman going to cause the end of the world?

In a different reality, Diana was possessed by Hecate and that caused the War of the Gods to have a much more brutal result than anyone expected.

The Tales from the Dark Multiverse continue and while most of them have been interesting at the very least, this doesn't share the same luck.

Vita Ayala brings a twist to the 80s event War of the Gods and that by itself was intriguing by me. I mean, having a Wonder Woman-centric crossover was a really unique idea, I think it could be considered that way even these days (one of these days I have to check it out). That being said, the writer doesn't do a particularly great job at making it compelling because the plot is as predictable as you can get. Is not even about Diana turning evil by a justifiable explanation, is about her being controlled by Hecate and causing the death of many heroes, that's the story. For a crossover like Metal and the Dark Multiverse that is already known for being derivative, this is already too much.

There are a few cool aspects like the appearance of 80s characters like Katar Hol and the Justice League International but aside from that, there's not a lot to appreciate. Even the dialogue can cliche with phrases like "Your reign of terror ends here!".

Ariel Olivetti's art is pretty solid though with expressive characters and clear storytelling.

This is not bad per se, is just pretty average. Hope the next tie-in is better.
