Can Batman and Superman control Solomon Grundy?
In a time of an endless winter, Bruce has asked for Clark's help to put an end of the suffering of an old foe while at the same time, trying to find some peace within himself.
The conclusion of Joshua Williamson's run is here and, while at times feels like a common chapter, it still serves as an appropriate finale for the themes he worked on.
The focus goes to Solomon Grundy and the journey to his inevitable death. What makes this different is the way he has to die which based on Batman and Superman's compassion, will lead to a much hopeful rebirth during Grundy's next life and let's see if the next writer who tackles the antagonist will follow the same attention to continuity that Williamson has.
The highlight though, is the friendship between Bruce and Clark. Since issue 1, Williamson has devoted a lot of the title to the relationship between the two protagonists by nailing their histories and dynamic, Williamson's final issue is no different with him implementing a little of the Endless Winter crossover in a pretty effective manner to create a great character moment between the heroes that showcases how close they are and how they will always help one another. Charming stuff.
Andrei Bressan handles the art and is solid with a sorta Frank Quitely style that follows the script perfectly.
Fitting finale. Let's see if the next run is just as good.
