Can Mera fight alongside her enemies?
Orm will have to remember what is the most important thing in his life while Mera will be forced to return to her origins to save Atlantis.
A much better issue than the last one thankfully.
As you might remember, I didn't really like the last issue that much because of the derivative direction of making characters quickly fight for barely justifiable reasons. Here however, Dan Abnett corrects his past mistakes by delivering really strong character work that explores more about the different perspectives between Mera and Orm and how both see their duty and romantic lives. Orm particularly gets more development than before and makes him more interesting than previous appearances.
Plus, this issue is packed with content. We not only get personal moments but also segments that progress the plot due that we finally see a particular plot-point that was left forgotten a long time ago: Xebel and Nereus, Mera's ex-husband which hopefully will finally lead to the long-awaited Rise of the Seven Seas storyline.
Lan Medina is in charge of art duties and his work is really solid thanks to the expressive characters and strong storytelling.
Good read, more like this please.
