Batwoman's end is near.
Old friends and lovers are becoming new enemies and Kate will be forced to confront all of them and even if she wins, her problems are just beginning.
Batwoman deserved better.
I'm serious here, I'm a huge fan of Kate Kane since her introduction and I thought that a relaunch of her series would be very promising for her future, particularly because the character has become more relavant in recent years. However, both Marguerite Bennett and James Tynion IV failed at delivering an interesting opening arc since the characters involved here are not compelling enough to be invested in them nor the whole world where they inhabit. Seriously, who actually cares about the people who were introduced here? I think this could have worked better in a later storyline after slowly introducing these characters into the mix before diving straight into this whole dull territory.
As it is, I don't see the point of this story. This is apparently some sort of set-up for the future but once again, this was way too boring to pay enough attention for what's about to come and I feel that it was a pretty unnecessary manner to introduce us to the upcoming plot-points. I wouldn't blame people who dropped this book already since there was barely any reason to buy it.
Steve Epting's artwork is solid at least with clear storytelling and attention to detail.
Other than that, shame about this book and the writers.
