Some thoughts about Action Comics #957

Superman is back, in more ways than one could imagine.

Lex Luthor has proclaimed himself the new Superman but Clark knows that he can't let him use the shield nor ruin the reputation of the Superman who died saving the world. Now is up to him to prevent more destruction but once that more mysteries start to appear, this will become more complicated.

Well, this certainly caught my attention.

Dan Jurgens returns to Action Comics by continuing the old numeringof the title and also his work in the book Superman: Lois and Clark. The story progresses at a fast pace with the writer making Clark waste any time once that Luthor appears as the new Superman which tells a lot of the character he is while at the same time making some interesting questions like how this Luthor might not be as evil as the one he knows.

The good points don't end there since other characters start appearing during the story, characters that start to make you wonder what is actually happening and hopefully, their presence will be made clear in the future.

Patrick Zircher handles the artwork and is pretty good looking with attractive characters and a great storytelling skill that makes the script even better.

An intriguing beginning without a doubt, interested to see more.

  1. I really enjoyed it also...this rebirth thing is getting me back into dc....but what i dont understand is this...if this is the original dc universe with 10 years wiped out...why are there two supermans and two lois lanes....might be explained by the man in rebirth telling superman he had to talk to him about the "tragic death"...could the supermans be the same person split in half or something? Kinda confusing....
but im into superman and action for the long haul...i like how he is married and with a kid...

    1. Well, there are some mysteries going on but Jurgens established that this Superman and his family are from the pre-COIE universe.
