Some thoughts about Constantine: The Hellblazer #13

One way or another, an era for Constantine is about to end.

John will have to trick Neron to try to save Oliver's daughters. However, even if he manages to do it this might be far from over.

Well, this series is officially over and while this is not a bad ending per se, is not that great either.

Ming Doyle and James Tynion IV offer the final chapter of their story and as you may remember, Neron tricked John and everything is in his power but now John has an idea about to deal with it. The thing is that idea is not really creative nor makes much sense to be honest.

Neron wants to use everyone's souls but John made a spell to make the people of New York boring and so their souls are worth nothing. Really? I mean, I suppose that personality can be considered part of one's soul but what about their actions? Their lives? All the good or bad deeds they made? They aren't worth anything? Again, this seems like a pretty simplistic solution to try to make John smarter than he actually is which doesn't work that well once that you think about it.

The fact that Oliver still had to sacrifice himself to save his daughters make all of even more worthless. Plus, let's not forget that it was John's own stupidity that put him in that position. I guess this plays with the classic theme of how everyone around Constantine suffers but it still puts John in a bad light.

Eryk Donovan handles the artwork and is okay but a bit rushed at times with awkward character models and rough lines.

Yep, this was a pretty worthless issue and series as a whole. Better luck for the next one.
