Some thoughts about Aquaman #26

Aquaman's role as a king is about to get even more complicated.

Despite of all this time, Arthur still has problems at trying to separate his life between the sea and the surface while in the shadows a mysterious new theat is about to resurface.

This is Jeff Parker's first issue as the new Aquaman writer and provides a solid but not exactly impressive first issue. Parker brings some good characterization for Arthur and Mera and their relationship and how they work as a couple and team. Not to mention that we also see some interesting new faces added to the cast that will most likely develope some interesting plot-points in the future.

Unfortunately, the story doesn't seem exciting enough. I believe the risks and threats could have been more powerfully presented and it would have been great if we could have seen some new aspects from Arthur's personality. Although based on Parker's plans, I suppose that's going to eventually happen.

Art duties are shared between Paul Pelletier and Netho Diaz and while Pelletier's pages are as strong as ever, Diaz' are not as good, they're still serviceable though.

Solid issue but I hope Parker is preparing a stronger following one. Although to be fair, Parker's first issues are usually not the best of his works.
