Bruce's training will go the next level.
Master Kirigi is willing to train all of his pupils in the art of war and Bruce will soon realize that this school will receive even the worst sort of students.
Still following all the classic tropes solidly.
Chip Zdarsky opens with a very well-known Batman origin scenario. Let's face it, the idea of Bruce going to a mystical school in the mountains is rather overused to the point that you don't imagine anything new coming from it and Zdarsky doesn't reinvent the wheel here, what he does though is creating a pretty entertaining take on such idea based on the different interactions that Bruce has with the members of such place, especially once he realizes what the point of the Dojang is. It creates pretty appropriate character work.
There's a little concern here and is more of a personal bias but I really, REALLY hope that the friend that Bruce made here doesn't end-up becoming Ghost-Maker because anything from James Tynion IV's derivative run deserves to be forgotten forever and Ghost-Maker is probably one of the cringiest things that were introduced from that work not named Punchline.
Carmine Di Giandomenico remains in art duties and his work is still pretty detailed and brilliant at telling the story. The action scenes are surprisingly well-done.
Good read, hope the following ones are even better.
