Some thoughts about Deathstroke Inc. #5

What is the perfect life for Deathstroke?

Dinah and Slade are trying to find out the plans of the new Libra and by doing so, they will realize what their heart truly desire which could be for the better and for the worse.

A lot of things to appreciate along with a few to complaint about.

Let's begin with the issues. Joshua Williamson opens with the cliffhanger of Slade being apparently dead... and then suddenly waking up of it, this a pretty wasted opportunity since we didn't get use to that situation which I know it wasn't going to last but you could have waited a bit to explore that story element. Second, Slade being a loving father once he realizes that he could have his children back seems completely opposite to how the character should be written (especially compared to how Christopher Priest wrote him) since he's basically a sociopath. Finally, "Oliver closing his eyes in a haunted house" is not Oliver Queen, like, at all, not sure what to think about Williamson writing Green Arrow now.

On the other hand, the plot progresses very quickly and giving a lot of that classic Williamson continuity fanservice by bringing back the Justice Society along with fan favorite villain and there's even a twist here that makes things much more brutal.

Paolo Pantalena's artwork is energetic, detailed and followed the script perfectly with imposing moments. Very reminiscent of Howard Porter's style actually.

Decent read, hope the next one is much better.
