What is happening to the Titans?
In one of their usual missions trying to help people, a few heroes will soon realize that their powers have been strangely stolen by an average man and this is not the only place where this anomaly is happening.
First of all I have to say: Thank God this is not handled by either Tim Sheridan or Robbie Thompson!
I was initially fearing that this was going to be handled by Sheridan because DC has given him the Titans property for some reason despite that his writing is just awful in almost every regard (and I mentioned Thompson because he suffers from the same exact problems as Sheridan and Superboy's involvement here made me think of his Suicide Squad run). Fortunately, new writer Cavan Scott is here and the most pleasent surprise is that his work is actually solid.
Yes, right from the beginning you see a big difference between Scott's and the other writers' works mentioned above, mostly about the dialogue. Scott just needs a few lines to get the point across and get the characters right which is something I've been asking for a while for both Titans and Suicide Squad. You just need to check some subtle moments like Nightwing motivating a person who just discovered his powers to realize his kind nature while the rest of the team also get good moments (Mind you, Beast Boy is much more blunt but is Beast Boy so I guess is in character).
The plot is all about the mystery surrounding the loss of powers of a few of the members and by itself is not particularly unique but it's compensated by the entertaining conversations between the cast. If I had a complaint is that Jason Todd is portrayed a bit more jerkish than he should be but hopefully this will be fixed in upcoming issues.
Jose Luis handles the art and his work has a very classic yet modern and polished style that depicts every scene and character perfectly.
Good read, at last actual quality stuff.
