Some thoughts about Blue & Gold #2

Can Blue Beetle and Booster Gold be finally recognized as the heroes they are?

After Ted rejected his membership in the Justice League because they didn't admit Michael, he will have no choice but continue their disastrous adventures while at the same time trying to save his role as the CEO of his own company.

There's not a lot of plot here, but once again, this is compensated due to the fun dynamics.

Dan Jurgens offers a new chapter where he plays with his classic strengths and that's the exact word I would use to describe this issue, "classic". Is just your usual fun superhero stuff with a comedic tone, nothing more than that and there's nothing wrong about that actually. You could say that the only way Jurgens is breaking the mould here is by portraying a couple of unpopular superheroes trying to get known (which is not exactly an unique premise either) but this is compensated by the entertaining dynamic between Booster and Beetle which, again, Jurgens knows really well and depicts their friend ins a pretty enjoyable and believable way, you just buy that these two have been friends for a long time. Add the little nods to other Jurgens stories like the famous Death of Superman event (Except replacing it with Booster) and you get an issue that makes you smile.

Mind you, there's very little actual progress here, or even an actual story as a matter of fact. There are a few sub-plots going on in the background but they're hardly the main focus since that's devoted to character work. Thankfully, this doesn't make the issue feel light in content since there's a good amount of that, is just that is all-around the main characters' conversations.

Ryan Sook is a fantastic storyteller, his artstyle is immediately recognizable and appealing with extremely expressive characters and vibrant tone which is perfect for this sort of book.

Decent read, I just hope the next one moves the story forward.
