Some thoughts about Shazam #3

How can Shazam escape from hell?

Billy and Dane are doing their best to survive the fury of a demon but soon they will realize they need the help of another one if they want to return home.

Yeah, what can I say that I haven't already said about Tim Sheridan's work?

The problem is not only that he had to force his awful ideas from Teen Titans Academy into Shazam's universe but also that he does it pretty poorly. Dane for example is not really interesting as a character and even his "powers" (that he's basically the son of a demon) are really derivative since we have seen such archetype countless of times (Hell, Raven's own appearance here makes such matter even worse).

And what do I mean that he forces such ideas poorly? Because he somehow had to retcon that Billy has been working with the Titans for years when that hasn't been the case at all, the closest Billy had as an actual team were his original colleagues at Fawcett Comics, the Justice Society of America and maybe the Justice League in recent years, the Titans though? Not at all so Sheridan needed to create such connection to justify the inclusion of some of those characters and his own role as a writer here but none of that is worth anything.

Also, Sheridan's dialogue continues to blow. Take for example Neron here who Sheridan tries to inject a lot of personality but does it too over the top to the point he becomes really annoying, it actually reminds me of how Andrew Kreisberg used to write Felicity Smoak at Arrow which is one of the worst insults that I can think of.

Clayton Henry's art is pretty solid though with a fluid and expressive style that gets the best from each character.

Aside from that, just end already.
