Some thoughts about Future State: Superman Vs. Imperious Lex #3

Lex Luthor can't control his people forever.

Lex has been manipulating how everyone in Lexor perceive what happens in the planet but Superman and Lois Lane are going to make them see the truth.

I wasn't really expecting Future State to last as long as it did but here we are and I'm glad it did since we got quality stories like this one.

Mark Russell brings the conclusion of this little tale and is pretty much as Russell as you can get. Lex's actions are his own downfall which is a classic part of his character and this is reflected on how much he's willing to blame others for his own mistakes or lying to the media about Superman's true nature while at the same time showing how egocentric he can be in every panel. I know I said I like my antagonists to be more multidimensional than this but Russell portrays Lex so entertainingly that I'm willing to give it a pass here.

Plus, there's also the typical heart the author usually injects in the story like how X-99 loves his creator despite of his flaws and how little Lex might care about him which allows for a few charming scenes (Mind you, if this was someone like Geoff Johns writing he would at least make Lex actually care for the little guy at the end which would make things even better but eh).

Steve Pugh handles the art and is solid as usual with expressive characters and intense action scenes.

Good read, hope we see more of Russell soon.
