Can they lose more after everything that has happened?
The survivors that left Earth to create a new society on another planet have heard Cyborg's message and are willing to come back for him but that might be the worst decision they have made.
This series properly returns with a brand new miniseries written by its creator Tom Taylor obviously and it feels like DCeased all right.
Taylor starts referencing a lot of events from previous miniseries and one-shots, most importantly Cyborg's survival during the first one. The preparation for the proper event is well-paced for the most part, particularly when we see how the survivors from the first book handle their new lives and roles, and how much they're willing to sacrifice to save any of their old friends. The action is nicely executed as expected from a Taylor title and the cliffhanger is typical DCeased stuff where hope seems lost.
The flaws here are the ones concerning characterization and I know that I'm a broken record here but I still really don't like Taylor's Green Arrow, is too much of an everyman, too "Hawkeye-ish" for my taste, is unnecessarily likable and that's for a reason considering what happens towards the end which makes it even manipulative and confirms that Taylor really doesn't care about the character. Another complaint is that the writer doesn't quite nails the dynamic between Jon and Damian but at least he does it better than Brian Bendis.
Trevor Hairsine returns to pencils and his work is still fitting for the story due to his rough finish and bloody detail.
Decent beginning, let's see how things go on.
