Some thoughts about Multiversity: Teen Justice #1

Who can save the future?

A new team of superheroes is here to save the planet but even after so many years, many of the threats remain the same.

I have to be honest here, I completely forgot that this particular team was introduced during DC's Very Merry Multiverse special (whose segment was thankfully included here) and to be honest, at times it feels a bit hard to figure out in which kind of universe this story takes place (I suppose is the one where the genders are reversed but there have been many of them over the years). However, this first issue does a solid enough job to make you invested in this team so far.

Ivan Cohen and Danny Lore deliver the story suited in Earth 11 where we explore about what makes this universe unique. I mean, is not that unique since as I mentioned this is yet another dimension where the characters switch genders but it still present interesting ideas over the course of the plot. I'm particularly fond of a lot of the characters since the writers make a compelling dynamic between all of them and they also made the good decision of creating different relationships depending on the characters being either Supergirl and Robin or Troy and Raven, the full team is full of personality actually.

About the plot, you see the classic Teen Titans ideas like Brother Blood becoming "Sister Blood" here (I would have preferred "Mother Blood" but whatever) and even a much bigger genderswapped threat appearing at the end. Again, the story itself is not that interesting since the chapter is mostly focused on character work but there are still a few fun moments concerning the plot.

Marco Failla handles the art and the style is pretty vibrant and energetic, fitting for a young superhero team.

Solid beginning, let's hope for more plot-progression next time.
