Some thoughts about Flashpoint Beyond #2

Both Batmen are looking for truth.

Thomas is searching for the Psycho-Pirate to see if he can help bring Bruce back meanwhile Bruce's own search of the Time Masters might lead him to a much more dangerous situation.

The plot itself progresses at a nice pace but the problems from the last chapter remain.

Geoff Johns is accompanied by both Tim Sheridan and Jeremy Adams and yeah, the contribution of the last two is felt in the overall craft. The narration can get a bit too heavyhanded at times, particularly at the beginning and at the end, with a lot of the boxes and dialogue felling overly-expository and leaving very little room to the imagination. Johns himself has never been a particularly subtle writer but his work has never really felt as overwritten while both Adams and Sheridan take things to another extreme (Mind you, this still doesn't feel as bad as anything that Sheridan has done).

That being said, there's still a lot of content here. The investigation is really interesting due that Thomas is looking for every connection his universe might have to his son which will eventually reveal more about his own character and how he might not have been as good as a father and husband that he and the audience initially believed. Add the typical Johns' worldbuilding and other hints to the Multiverse and you get a very dense read.

Xermanico and Mikel Janin share the pencils and their work is pretty solid with expressive characters and strong storytelling.

Decent read, hope the execution gets better though.
