What are stories behind the greatest fighters in Lazarus Island?
Robin barely escaped the encounter with his family and now is investigating the people he will have to fight next but he might not be prepared for an even bigger battle in the future.
This issue mostly serves as a complement for the main story and I think it works fine enough in that regard.
Joshua Williamson offers a little tale suited before the current events in the book to deliver a bigger insight into some of the characters he has been working on. Flatline is clearly the main focus here and is admitedly interesting to see the complicated past with her family which lead her to search for a connection with Lord Death Man and eventually brought her to Lazarus Island and her conflict with Damian. Is solid character work.
The other characters receive shorter segments but it was cool to see the little bits that motivate them into this brutal tournament and, this being a Williamson story, of course he had to reference Connor Hawke's time with the 90s JLA and how that changed in a blink because of continuity reasons.
It's also appropriate to see Williamson planting the seeds to his upcoming Batman run in which I expect a lot of continuity fanservice.
Roger Cruz handles the art and is pretty solid with a energetic style and intense action scenes.
Good read, not that necessary but I like how it brings a few more details about the cast.
