Some thoughts about Robin #5

Can Robin fight his own family?

Damian is back to Gotham City and the former Robins are willing to bring him back no matter what but it seems the only solution is that they must start trusting him.

What else can I say? Joshua Williamson just gets it.

Another chapter arrives where Williamson exploits his classic love for continuity and history. There are several entertaining references going on here like Damian teasing Nightwing with his time as "Ric" Grayson, telling that basically everyone in his family has died at least once, mentioning Stephanie's time as Robin, is just great attention to history.

Even better though, is Williamson's respect for all these characters. About how Damian mentions how Tim is the smartest (only because he can't hear him), how Steph is the bravest which leads to a hug to show how Jason is the most emotional which is just perfect characterization summarized in a single page and while Tom Taylor implementation of a moment like that in DCeased irked me, here is actually in character because Damian uses it in his favor. And of course, is up to Dick to try to fix everything showing his trust for Damian and mentioning how he was always "his" Robin. Simply endearing stuff.

Greb Melnikov's artwork continues to be extremely fluid and energetic, at times a bit too much to the point that seems kinda rushed but still gets the job done.

Excellent read, one of the best this week.
