Some thoughts about Infinite Frontier #5

What is happening to the Multiverse now?

The Psycho-Pirate's plans are coming to fruition, reality is crumbling and the only thing that can stop him is the combining forces of the different Justice teams but even then, the bigger threat is about to come.

This just doesn't stop getting better.

Joshua Williamson is about to conclude this strong miniseries by giving the readers actual answers and bringing his classic love for continuity. The motivation and mission of the Psycho-Pirate is finally explained and it makes a lot of sense considering the multiple changes he and other DC characters have suffered over the years because of the constant Crisis. The plot progresses at a very fast pace because of this and, while the issue is very action-focused, is not light in content.

I really dig the character work here too, particularly the one centered around Roy Harper since his role in this event is revealed and once again, Williamson understands the character by showcasing his suffering as an important part of his history. Mind you, I'm not that fond of Director Bones going back to being a villain considering his whole history with Sylvester Pemberton but I'm sure the writer will bring that back eventually.

And the references of course, there are some classic ones like Calvin Ellis breaking up chains but other more obscure ones like Bones returning to his original costume from Earth 2 along with many fun nods to the Multiverse. There's a lot to appreciate here.

Paul Pelletier, Jesus Merino and Tom Derenick share the pencils and they deliver a pretty consistent work over the course of the read, depicting the script clearly.

Great issue, can't wait for the conclusion.
