Some thoughts about Batman #92

Who is the Punchline?

Batman and Deathstroke need to stop The Riddler once for all but Catwoman and Harley Quinn might have an even bigger problem to face.

A mixed bag as usual.

James Tynion IV offers a new installment where he plays with two scenarios. The first one is about Bruce and Slade trying to defeat Riddler at his own game and this is decently done despite that I'm still not really a fan of this particular portrayal of the Riddler (and even Slade can sound off under Tynion's pen). It has solid pacing and an appropriate conclusion.

The biggest issue comes with Harley and Selina section where they have to face the recently-introduced and overly-hyped character Punchline, the new girlfriend/partner of the Joker. One of the complaints here is that I completely hate Tynion's take on Harley, it was already bad when her fixation on the Joker was still present here but Tynion also makes her sound overly-annoying. Then comes Punchline who I fear might become Tynion's Villain Sue based on the little moments of interaction she had here and because of previous experience with the writer.

Guillem March handles the art and I have no complaints here, he has a pretty detailed style that can be both bizarre and beautiful when it needs to be.

Yeah, mixed thoughts. Not sure what to expect next.
