Some thoughts about Justice League #60

Can Black Adam join the Justice League?

Superman believes there's hope in everyone, even in an old enemy and now he's willing to convince the rest of the team to recruit the former chosen of Shazam.

Brian Bendis' run on Justice League continues and for a Bendis' book, I was expecting this title to drop more frequently.

The delay actually accentuates the usual problems with Bendis' writing. The obvious is the classic decompression that is always present in his books but this time is somehow worse since the issue mostly revolves around the idea of Black Adam joining the team with the whole interaction being: "I want him on the team/no" and repeat. There are a few other moments like the recruitment of Hyppolita which fortunately is not as repetitive and trying to poorly justify Naomi's role on the team but is not enough to feel like proper plot progression.

Plus, I must say that this chapter cemented my opinion about how much I dislike Bendis' Green Arrow. Especially because how Ollie is the one that tries to convince Superman of all people that Black Adam can't be trusted when written properly, it should be the other way with Ollie recognizing that while some people have flaws, there can still be something valuable in them. Bendis' gets Superman fine and... pretty much the rest of the cast wrong.

David Marquez is a fantastic storyteller though, depicting every scene of the script as clearly as possible.

Ram V. also gets a chance to write the Justice League in his Justice League Dark segment and he actually does a better job than Bendis on the main feature. Not to mention that there's more progression with the Merlin plot-point along with solid character work with the recurring cast. I would mind seeing the whole book being written by the author. Xermanico's artwork is equally solid with expressive characters and precise storytelling.

Worth it for Ram V segments I guess. Other than that, don't expect much.
