Is this the end of the Kryptonian race?
Rogol Zaar has beaten Clark and not even his friends can save him from a threat that could destroy the whole planet.
Well, I'm starting to see the flaws of this direction.
Let's talk about the positives first. Once again, I feel like the pacing is decent enough with a good sense of escalation and interesting, although predictable, developments for the most part.
And that was enough, let's talk about the negatives. I feel like Jon was way out of character here for the mere fact that he chose to accompany his "grandfather" simply because the guy said so which is particularly wrong considering everything that happened during Peter Tomasi and Patrick Gleason's Superman run where he wanted to stay with his family no matter what and pretty much did the opposite from here. This just seems like a forced way to take Jon out of the book and plot simply to create drama and really, that's one of the cheapest tricks in comic books.
I'm not exactly a fan of some of the typical Brian Bendis ticks that are starting to appear either like the awkward humour including Barry's cringey "caca poo poo" line which is something that only a kid would find appropriate to say and is expected from Bendis sadly.
Adam Hughes handles the main segment and his artwork is decent thanks to his unique style but at times I feel like it lacks the necessary clarity in the storytelling. Jason Fabok's section is more classic comic book style but more satisfying in that regard.
Not feeling it. Hope the conclusion is good at least.
